Population Zero

Population Zero is an experimental found footage horror film directed by Adam Levins.

In 2009 three young men were killed in a remote area of Yellowstone National Park. Only hours later, Dwayne Nelson walks into a ranger station miles away and confessed to the crime. Despite his detailed confession, Nelson goes free because of a loophole in the American Constitution. Documentarian Julian T. Pinder travels to Yellowstone in a chase for truth behind a crime that should have rocked the nation. How did the United States Constitution let a guilty man go free? In POPULATION ZERO we find the only thing more shocking than this senseless act of violence may be the bizarre events that followed.

“I have been fascinated with genre melding projects for a long time and what caught my eye about Population Zero was the unique way it told a very strong story,” explains Levins. “I was excited to tell a story that has so many different facets, a loophole in the US legal system that allows killers to walk free and yet a very personal experience about one man’s fight against a multinational corporation.

“Documentarians have always debated where the line is between truth and the influence they bare over their projects. For me Population Zero is about starting a debate. How far can filmmakers go to colour the stories they tell? And how far is too far?”
