Ajax man arrested on terror-related charges

RCMP have laid a terror-related charge against an Ontario man, who was initially detained out of fear he might commit a terrorism act.

Kevin Mohamed of Ajax, appeared briefly in a Brampton court today. He was remanded until April 19th for a bail hearing.

The 23 year old was arrested Friday in Waterloo, under a recent law that essentially allows detention without charge.

Police initially charged him with two minor weapons offences, but they’ve now charged him with participation in a terrorist group.

The Mounties say they started investigating Mohamed in August of last year, after determining he’d travelled to Turkey in 2014 to join a terror group.
