Taxi drivers to converge on downtown Toronto

Thousands of cab drivers are expected to converge on downtown Toronto today in a protest that could make it tough for people to get around.

The cabbies are calling on the city to crack down on ride-sharing service Uber.

As many as two-thousand drivers are expected to gather at four points in the city and then head downtown to circle Queen’s Park and city hall, calling on politicians to enforce city bylaws.

New rules that will reduce regulations for the taxi industry and introduce regulations for services like Uber aren’t expected until next year.
