Toronto International Film Festival opens today

Hollywood north heats up later today as the Toronto International Film Festival kicks off.
Hot films in the lineup include “Black Mass” starring Johnny Depp as a gangster, and the journalism drama “Spotlight” starring Michael Keaton and Mark Ruffalo.
The opening night film is “Demolition,” directed by Jean-Marc Vallee of Quebec and starring Jake Gyllenhaal as an investment banker.
The 11-day celebration of cinema is marking its 40th year, having grown into an important hub on the film festival circuit and an important contributor to Toronto’s economy.
Many past features at the festival have gone on to do well at the Academy Awards.
