Slow West

[projekktor id=’19847′]

The British invasion of Hollywood started in front of the camera with actors like Daniel Day Lewis and David Oyelowo portraying important American historical figures. Now they’re swooping in and stealing the most American film genre: the western. Scottish director John Maclean brings a U.K. twist to the wild west with Slow West, starring Kodi Smit-McPhee as a lovesick teen who travels to America in search of the girl he loves. Special features include a “On Strange Land: Making Slow West” featurette and deleted scenes.

Danny Collins

Al Pacino plays an aging music star who takes an opportunity to turn his life around and make a difference with his family. While the plot may be lacking in originality, the performances in Danny Collins really shine through. Currently holding a 77% on Rotten Tomatoes, this is a great pick if you’re looking for something light to watch this summer. Two short extras are included: a behind the scenes feature and a collection of fake album covers featuring Pacino’s musician character.

Woman in Gold

[projekktor id=’19849′]

If you like stories based on real life events check out Woman in Gold starring Helen Mirren as Maria Altmann, an Austrian woman who successfully fought to reclaim paintings stolen from her family during World War 2. With a 53% on Rotten Tomatoes, critics weren’t really thrilled by the film. However the audience score of 83% shows that the film can still prove enjoyable. The only special features included on with the home video release are a making-of clip and a short documentary with interview clips of Altmann herself.
