Devil’s Due

Devil’s Due takes the old, birthing the Antichrist story and gives it the trendy found footage treatment. The film stars Allison Miller and Zach Gilford, who find themselves expecting a baby after a wild night on their honeymoon. Of course, Gilford’s character films everything, presumably to create long lasting memories that they can enjoy for years to come. Instead, he gets to watch his wife go crazy and gets it all on tape.
Devil’s Due comes from first time feature director Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, who is one quarter of the production company Radio Silence. The film got a huge tip-of-the-cap by horror director Eli Roth, who tweeted that it was the “scariest found footage film since Paranormal Activity“; not a bad shout out for a young horror director. Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones had a relatively successful opening two weekends ago, proving that horror movies do have some appeal in the middle of winter. The viral marketing campaign will surely help draw people to the theatre as well.
Devil’s Due is rated 14A.
