Oldboy

Oldboy stars Josh Brolin as Joe Ducette, a man who is abducted and imprisoned in a makeshift hotel room for 20 years. After his abrupt release, he sets off on a mission to find those responsible for his kidnapping and have his vengeance, hammer-style.

Based on a Japanese manga comic of the same name, Oldboy has been brought to the screen before.  Chan-wook Park’s 2003 adaptation is a beloved classic and is considered to be the best film in his Vengeance trilogy. In this english language version, director Spike Lee has been quick to separate his new adaptation from the Korean film, pointing to the original source material as his inspiration.
