In today’s Grey Cup roundup: a possible ticket scam, keeping warm, the coaches talk, and some cute fans show their colours.

Grey Cup ticket scam warning

The RCMP are warning people about a grey cup ticket scam, with fake tickets being sold to Sunday’s game between the Ticats and Roughriders. The scammers tell people to pay for tickets through email or wire transfer, and then buyers never hear from them again.

Police say some people have also received fake tickets in the mail. The best way to avoid being scammed is to buy tickets directly from the CFL or the Saskatchewan Roughriders website.

Anyone who has been a victim of a Grey Cup ticket scam is asked to call police.

How fans are keeping warm

It’s going to be a cold one on Sunday. Temperatures in Regina this time of year can dip into the negative double digits.

So how can fans stay warm? Residents Dave Ash and Trevor Norgan offer some tips that have to be seen to be believed (video above).

Coaches face the media

Hamilton Ticat head coach Kent Austin and Saskatchewan Roughriders’ head coach Corey Chamblin, met with reporters in Regina today before each of their teams began practicing for Sunday’s Grey Cup. The temperature at Mosaic Stadium was -17 — without the windchill — this morning, but neither coach considers that a significant factor.

Austin: “it’s got to be unbelievable, right, to be able to play at home in front of your fans for the Grey Cup. But our philosophy as a football team is it doesn’t matter where we play, it’s the same dimensions to the football field, everybody’s got to play the game. It’ll be decided on the field regardless of the environment of the stadium.”

Chamblin: “when you look at the Grey Cup, this is a championship game against the two best football teams in the league. All the other stuff, all the party, all the hype, you know, there are some things that we all will have to get involved with. The biggest thing is, I just want them to stay in the routine that they’ve been in, that they only think about football, and their families and different things. I just don’t want them to deviate too far from the norm of what they’ve had.”
