Facebook has apologized after an ad it displayed for a dating website used a picture of Rehtaeh Parsons.

She’s the 17-year-old Nova Scotia girl who was taken off life support after trying to kill herself in April, a suicide attempt her family says was brought on by months of bullying following a sexual assault.

Facebook says the ad with Parsons’ picture was a “gross violation” of the social network’s policies and it’s been removed.

The dating site has also been banned from advertising on Facebook.
