‘Day of rage’ expected to lead to more violence in Egypt

Thousands of Muslim Brotherhood supporters are calling for a ‘day of rage’ to challenge the military-imposed state of emergency in Egypt.

The group’s called on their followers once again to protest the police crackdown on two protest camps in Cairo that so far has killed 638 people. Debris is still on the streets from violent clashes between security forces and pro-Morsi protestors, but it’s likely the streets will soon be full of demonstrators.

Thousands of Muslim Brotherhood supporters poured out of mosques after prayers in Egypt this morning to prepare for protests. In anticipation the army has deployed dozens of armoured vehicles on major roads in Cairo, and they’re currently blocking entrances and exits to Tahrir square.

Police have been authorized to use deadly force against anyone targeting police and state buildings.
