Vigil for the missing and murdered
Today, dozens of vigils were held across the country to honour the lives of the more than 600 missing or murdered aboriginal women in Canada.
Research from the Native Women’s Association of Canada
shows aboriginal women make up only three percent of the female canadian population – yet they account for 10 percent of all female homicides. Today Melissa Raftis spoke with one woman who shared the story of her murdered granddaughter, in the hopes of inspiring other women to better their situation while embracing their culture.
