Visitation for Havel

People in Prague are paying their respects to their former leader.

Vaclav Havel died Sunday in his sleep at age 75.

Mourners walked past his casket at St. Anna’s church in central Prague.

Havel, the playwright turned political activist, spent four-and-a-half years in prison for opposing Czechoslovakia’s communist government before emerging as a leader of the velvet revolution which toppled it in 1989.

He went on to become president of Czechoslovakia and of the Czech Republic when the country split in 1992.
