Terror threats uncovered in New York and Washington

Police in New York and Washington are stepping up security following what counterterrorism officials are calling a “credible threat” in advance of the tenth anniversary of September 11.

The unconfirmed but somewhat specific intelligence comes from a tribal area of Pakistan.

Officials say the threat involves three men trying to travel to the U.S. To carry out bombings in either New York or Washington, aimed at bridges or tunnels.

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is urging residents to be vigilant, but to go about their normal lives.
