BC man charged in historic sexual assaults on kids in GTHA

A 64-year-old British Columbia man has been arrested in connection with a series of historical sexual assaults on children in the Halton, Peel, and Waterloo regions.

Police say an investigation called Project Woodland was launched to look into the offences that took place between 1992 and 1995.

As a result of the investigation, 64-year-old Richard Neil was arrested on Mar. 3 and faces 20 criminal charges, including the following:

  • Kidnapping
  • Uttering death threats
  • Sexual assault
  • Sexual assault with a weapon
  • Sexual interference
  • Invitation to sexual touching
  • Administering noxious thing with intent
  • Forcible confinement

Neil was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police say the identify of the victims is being protected under a publication ban and no additional information is being release at this time.
