Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is launching its inaugural anti-hate campaign Monday.

The week-long campaign is called #NoHateInHalton and runs Nov. 8 to Nov. 13. With a theme of “Safer Communities, Stronger Ontario”.

The HRPS says they are teaming up with many Halton school boards and groups including the Halton District School Board, the Halton Catholic District School Board, Conseil Scolaire Catholique MonAvenuir, Conseil Scolaire Viamonde, Crime Stoppers of Halton and more. It will run in over 180 schools across the region.

“Crime prevention is a responsibility shared by all of us and a key ingredient to building safer communities,” said HRPS Chief Stephen Tanner. “While Halton Region continues to maintain the lowest Crime Severity Index of all Canadian municipalities with a population over 100,000, there is always room for improvement.”

Police say residents can find crime prevention tips and information on topics such as keyless car thefts, online safety for children and teens and a new Buy and Sell Safe Zone on the HRPS social media.
