Man injured in Hamilton shooting

Hamilton police say a man was injured in a shooting in the area of Upper Wentworth Street and Emperor Avenue Friday.

Officers responded at around 9:20 p.m. after someone called 911 to report the sound of possible gunshots.

Police say they found a 22-year-old man suffering from a single gunshot wound. EMS responded and treated the victim at the scene before he was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say two men are believed to have been involved in the shooting and were last seen fleeing in a vehicle driving westbound on Emperor Ave. Police describe the vehicle as being a car, unknown make or model, silver in colour.

Police released a description of the two men:

Suspect #1- Male, white, early 20’s, taller than Suspect #2, possibly wearing a black hoodie sweater and a blue and grey coloured do-rag.

Suspect #2- Male, black, early 20’s, shorter than Suspect #1, with braided hair, clothing unknown, but also wearing an army green coloured do-rag.

Police say there is no danger to the general public and that this is believed to be a targeted shooting.

Hamilton police are asking anyone with information, or anyone with personal home video cameras that may have captured images of the suspect’s vehicle to contact officers at (905) 546-385.
