A taxi driver who transported children to and from school is facing numerous sex charges in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a young girl in Niagara Region.

Back in January 2017, members of the Niagara Regional Police Service’s Child Abuse Unit launched an investigation into the allegation of sexual assault of a girl under the age of 16.

On Thursday, police charged 54-year-old Jamie Woods, of St. Catharines, with two counts of sexual assault with a weapon, two counts of sexual assault, four counts of sexual interference, three counts of invitation to sexual touching, and three counts of expose genitals to a minor.

The charges stem from alleged incidents that happened in Niagara Region between April 2016 and May 2016.

Detectives have reason to believe there may be more victims.

The investigation remains ongoing by detectives of the child abuse unit.
