Fire Chief Dave Cunliffe says firefighters arrived to find a “well-burning” unit and heavy smoke on the third floor.
Crews began a search and rescue mission and located a 27-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man inside the burning unit.
They were transported to hospital in stable condition and treated for smoke inhalation.
Cunliffe says the fire was quickly knocked down but the unit sustained extensive damage and has become uninhabitable.
The cause has yet to be determined.
