Hamilton-area man wanted by Niagara police considered ‘armed and dangerous’

An arrest warrant has been issued for a Hamilton-area man in connection with a firearm incident in Thorold.

Niagara police were called to the area of Lampman Cres. and Keefer Rd. around 2:30 p.m. on Monday.

Police were told that a man inside a home may be in possession of a gun.

The Emergency Task Unit was called in to assist but could not locate the suspect.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for 37-year-old James McGowan, of Hannon, Ont.

He is wanted for three counts of fail to comply with release order.

Detectives say McGowan is considered armed and dangerous.

If he is seen, do not approach him and call 911 immediately.
