Commuters can expect to fork out more for GO Transit trips starting February 1st.

The Metrolinx board has approved a fare hike of around five per cent. The agency is recommending an increase of between 35 cents and 55 cents, depending on the station and distance being travelled.

The increase is supposed to help pay for GO’s continued expansion to accommodate its growing ridership. Those who choose to buy paper tickets will see a price increase of about six per cent, while Presto card users will see a 4.8 per cent increase.
