Fight over bicycle escalates to stabbing in Niagara Falls

Niagara police say a man was rushed to hospital after an argument turned violent in Niagara Falls.

Officers were called to the area of Fourth Ave. and Hamilton St. around 7 p.m. on Friday.

Police say two men were arguing over the ownership of a bicycle when one of the men stabbed the other with a screwdriver.

The 21-year-old victim fled the area and received help from witnesses nearby.

He was treated on scene by paramedics before being transported to an out-of-region hospital via air ambulance with life threatening injuries. Police say the man is currently in stable condition.

Karl Schmidt, 30, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and fail to comply.
