Hamilton driver charged in collision that seriously injured cyclist

A Hamilton man has been charged following a serious collision that sent a cyclist to hospital with life threatening injuries.

The crash happened shortly before 2 p.m. on July 22.

Police say a 38-year-old man from Hamilton was riding northbound in the bike lane on Bay St.

A vehicle also travelling northbound initially stopped at the intersection of Bay St. and Jackson St. but then proceeded to make a left onto Jackson St. in front of the bicycle.

Police say it caused the biker to crash into the vehicle.

The cyclist was rushed to hospital with life threatening injuries.

Police say he remains in hospital undergoing treatment for his injuries but is now listed in stable condition.

A 70-year-old man faces a charge of careless driving causing bodily harm.
