Heavy police presence in Stoney Creek following shooting near Walmart

Hamilton police are investigating an early morning shooting outside a local Walmart.

It happened at the Supercentre on Centennial Pkwy. in Stoney Creek early Wednesday.

Police have arrested a 24 year-old male in relation to the shooting. He is facing multiple criminal charges. One person was injured in the shooting.

CHCH News’ Sean Cowan was at the scene around 8 a.m. and said paramedics appeared to be treating a man with a leg wound.

Officers have blocked off the loading dock area behind the shopping centre.

Police are also asking residents to stay away from the area of Green Rd. to Millen Rd. and Highway 8 to the escarpment in Stoney Creek as there is a heavy police presence in the area.
