Halton police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a train in Burlington.

It happened in the area of King and Enfield roads just east of Aldershot GO station early Friday.

Halton police say the Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the incident.

Police say there are no further details at this time.

The Lakeshore West line experienced significant delays and cancellations as police investigated the incident.

GO Transit said travel alternatives including buses running from West Harbour GO, Hamilton GO Centre, and Aldershot GO were arranged as trains were unable to move through the area.

The tracks were cleared and reopened around 10 a.m. and regularly scheduled services resumed with some minor delays.
