Tip leads to arrest in vandalism at memorial for residential school victims

Brantford police say an arrest has been made in connection with an act of vandalism at a memorial for residential schools victims.
A 38-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday after police received a tip from a citizen about a possible suspect.
Officers were called to the Woodland Cultural Centre on Mohawk St. on Saturday after someone damaged the memorial outside and set several items on fire.
Police say the person arrived at the centre around 10:30 p.m. Friday and spent four hours destroying the items left to honour the victims of the residential school system.
A Brantford woman has been charged with mischief under $5,000. She has been released from police custody and will appear in court at a later date.
