Niagara man, 41, dies in hospital after being hit by car

A Niagara-on-the-Lake man has died after being hit by a vehicle late Sunday.

Police responded to reports of a collision on Irvine Rd. around 9:30 p.m.

Officers learned a pedestrian had been struck by a Toyota Corolla that was being driven by a St. Catharines man.

The victim was transported to hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Niagara police say the 27-year-old driver remained on scene. No word if any charges are being laid.

The investigation remains ongoing by detectives with the Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Office of the Coroner.
