Hamilton man arrested in armed robbery at Tim Hortons

Hamilton police have made an arrest in a late night armed robbery at a Tim Hortons.

Police say a man walked into the shop around 11 p.m. Thursday and ordered a beverage.

He told the employee he was armed with a knife before demanding all the money in the cash register. The employee complied, giving the man the money.

The employee was not physically hurt.

As this was happening, the employee was able to get the attention of a coworker working the drive-thru. That person was able to get a customer to call police.

Officers got a description of the man and were told he left the area on a bicycle.

The man was located in the area of Roxborough Ave. and Tuxedo Ave. N where he was arrested.

Jamie Shannon Lane, 38, of Hamilton has been charged with robbery, uttering threat to cause death, resisting a peace officer and failure to comply with probation.
