Fort Erie residents will be without power for about two hours Friday for a planned outage.

Canadian Niagara Power says a lighting strike around 3 a.m. damaged a piece of equipment on the main line that feeds Fort Erie customers.

Power will be cut starting at 2:30 p.m. to allow crews to make repairs.

“We understand this power outage is an inconvenience to our customers; our plan is to make the repair today in a controlled and safe environment in order to avoid the possibility of larger unplanned outage in the future,” said a release from the company.

The company says it’s currently looking into outage reports Ridgeway.
