It’s among a parent’s worst nightmares. A cancer diagnosis for their child. One in 7,000 will experience this scenario. Fortunately advanced treatments have led to increased positive outcomes; 4 out of 5 children survive. But winning that battle, often comes at a cost.
A child with cancer in the 1950’s or 60’s had a 20% chance of survival. Fortunately, those odds have improved. Maria Hayes reports.
