Forensic services outside home where police investigate report of buried baby

UPDATE: Hamilton police have found the body of an infant in the basement of a home on Wellington St. N.

A forensics team has visited a home on Wellington Street where a Hamilton police investigation is underway.
Police were called to the home just after midnight on Wednesday for a “suspicious circumstance.”
They say they received an unconfirmed report of a baby buried at the residence.

Officers were on scene all of Wednesday and members of the Centre for Forensic Sciences were on scene on Thursday.
Its been over 24 hrs and Hamilton Police remain on scene at this home on Wellington North at Wilson. They received *unconfirmed* reports that a baby was buried in the backyard. 2 people were arrested for unlawfully being inside the unoccupied home. @CHCHNews @morninglive pic.twitter.com/rHSslMeO98

Police say the investigation is expected to continue throughout the day.
A 34-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman who were arrested on Wednesday remain in police custody.
