Ontario reports 1,058 COVID-19 cases, 11 deaths

Ontario reported 1,058 cases of COVID-19 and 11 deaths on Monday, as the stay-at-home order is lifted in York Region.

The numbers come as the province completed 31,163 tests.  The reported positivity rate, which takes into account the date tests were performed, is 3.3 per cent.

Another 1,083 cases of the virus have been marked as resolved.

Hamilton

  • 10,167 total cases — up 55 from Sunday

  • 278 deaths
  • 30,370 vaccine doses given

Halton

  • 9,254 total cases — up 31 from Sunday
  • 8,850 resolved cases
  • 214 active cases
  • 190 deaths
  • 18 in hospital
  • 23,934 vaccine doses given

Niagara

  • 8,478 total cases — up nine from Sunday
  • 7,853 resolved cases
  • 259 active cases
  • 366 deaths — up one from Sunday
  • 9,251 vaccine doses given

Brant

  • 1,442 total cases — up two from Sunday
  • 1,384 resolved cases
  • 46 active cases
  • 12 deaths
  • 0 in hospital
  • 6,015 vaccine doses given; 2,390 people fully vaccinated

Haldimand-Norfolk

  • 1,407 total cases — up five from Sunday
  • 1,340 resolved cases
  • 23 active cases
  • 39 deaths
  • 6,432 vaccine doses given; 1,424 people fully vaccinated

There are 390 cases of the B.1.1.7 lineage of the virus, first reported in the U.K.

There are nine cases of the B.1.351 strain, first reported in South Africa and one case of the P.1 strain first reported in Brazil.

The province says 12,922 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered on Sunday. In total, 569,455 doses have been given.

There are 240,669 people who have received both required doses and are fully vaccinated.

There are 646 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario. There are 280 in intensive care, with 189 of them on ventilators.
