The King Road underpass in Burlington officially opened to traffic Friday afternoon. The 25-million dollar project started in July of 2010. It was necessary as more than 100 trains pass through the area each day and when it was a level crossing that meant waits as long as 20 minutes for the trains to get by. CN Rail picked up 85 per cent of the cost and the city paid the rest. The underpass isn’t just for cars though. There are bike lanes and sidewalks so people can get to and from Aldershot and Tyandaga much faster.
