Funeral planned for fallen officer

A funeral for Toronto police officer John Zivcic will be held in Toronto next week.

Constable Zivcic died in hospital Monday, two days after he was critically injured in a crash. The 34-year old grew up in St. Catharines. He’s been described as a well-respected, hard-working police officer and he has been with the Toronto police service for seven years.

A memorial service will be held on Monday at 11am at the Toronto Congress Centre.

Next Tuesday and Wednesday, there will be additional visitation at the Bocchinfuso funeral home in Thorold. These visitations are open to the public.

A private family funeral mass will be held on Thursday at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Croatian Church on River Road in Welland. Interment will follow. This service is not open to the public.
