Hamilton fire sends one man to hospital

One man is in hospital after an apartment fire in a high rise on Queen Street north in Hamilton this afternoon.

The 60-year old man was being treated by paramedics for possible smoke inhalation. He was taken to Hamilton General Hospital.

The fire broke around 2:30 this afternoon on the 18th floor of the Queen Elizabeth Towers.

Hamilton fire fighters continued to work through the afternoon to ensure that all of the hot spots were out.

The man was the only occupant of the apartment.

There is no official cause and the damage is estimated at $20,000.
