An elderly woman in Niagara-on-the-Lake has been airlifted to hospital in critical condition after she was hit by an SUV backing out of a driveway.

It happened on Niagara Stone Road in Virgil Wednesday afternoon. The woman was walking on the sidewalk near an interior design store when she was run over. A tow motor was used to lift the vehicle off her.
