Ford appeals for Philippines aid

Hundreds of people were lining up up to see Toronto Mayor Rob Ford. One week after he admitted to smoking crack cocaine, people waited hours in line to get a Rob Ford bobblehead signed by the Mayor. But while all of those people were lining up, a couple of key court cases with a connection to the now infamous Rob Ford crack video were moving ahead. An Ontario Superior Court Judge is now one of only a few people to have seen the video and he’ll soon decide if an alleged gang member will be allowed to see it as well.
Ford addressed the media just before 6pm. He talked about the urgent need for aid in the Philippines and called on Torontonians to help. He also addressed questions about the ongoing scandal and impact it’s having on his job: “I ask everyone. The relief in the Philippines is desperate. They need your support. It is urgent. I encourage everyone to contribute what they can to the Red Cross you personal donations. The Canadian government will match all donations made between November 9th and December 8th. I am making a personal contribution today. My contribution is $500. Happy to take questions. We’re doing well. We’re doing very, very well. Things are going great, absolutely fantastic. Talk is cheap — actions speak louder than words. I was elected to come down here and save taxpayers money. And I’ll come up and give you every single dollar I’ve saved. I saved more money than any single mayor in Toronto’s history. And that’s what I’m going to continue to do tomorrow. Thank you, Thank you.”
