Doug Ford to Bill Blair: quit!

Tension is rising between Toronto mayor Rob Ford and police chef Bill Blair surrounding the alleged crack cocaine video. The mayor’s brother, Toronto councillor Doug Ford, is accusing blair of being politically biased against his brother and is calling for him to step down until this investigation is over.
Here’s what he had to say on AM640 this morning: “I never brought this to light, the police chief brought this to light. He was the one who decided to make comments sitting in the police chief uniform, I never told him to do that.
“He was the one who brought this forward, he brought the pictures forward. He was the one who couldn’t wait to tell the public that he has this tape. I guess he’s gonna get an award from the Toronto Star at the end of the year for the best reporter.
“I’m not too sure what game the chief wants to play but obviously he has created a massive conflict of interest in this case and I think it’s going to affect the case moving forward.”
Mayor Ford took to the airwaves again yesterday to repeat his apology for being drunk in public and texting while driving. But he again dodged questions about the video as he did on his radio show on Sunday.
Ford yesterday challenged members of his executive committee to leave if they don’t want to work with him while the controversy continues. He says he’ll run the city by himself if he has to.
The relationship between Ford and Blair certainly appears to be under strain. Mayor Ford’s staff says he was uninvited to the police chief’s annual fundraising gala for victim services tomorrow night.
Police say that’s not the case, but won’t say why Ford won’t be attending.
Ford will also be facing a group of angry residents next Wednesday. A rally is being planned for that day at Nathan Phillips Square, calling on him to resign.
