The 7th annual Hamilton Marathon took place today.

A marathon is no easy task, and full of obstacles. For some that obstacle was getting through their first marathon

“My feet are sore my knees gave up my muscles were just not 100% it was really tough to concentrate to keep myself on my feet,” says runner Sebastian Irmia.

For Krysten Siba Bishob, her obstacles included three surgeries in just 16 months, a life-changing experience that inspired her to run.

“The big thing for me was the double mastectomy. I wanted to appreciate my body for what it could do instead of what it looked like and I just started running. It hasn’t been an easy road,” she says.

She had a strong message, for anyone who wanted to complete a marathon of their own, no matter what obstacles they face.

“Anything is possible.”

Anything, meaning running 42.1 kilometers even after three surgeries.

$250,000 was raised for City Kids and Joanne’s Hope for Haiti.
