 (Update)

The latest developments in the murder of Tim Bosma. Family and friends of the Ancaster husband and father packed a Hamilton courtroom Tuesday for an appearance by the two men accused in his murder.

Sean Leathong was at John Sopinka Courthouse and has the story.

Dellen Millard appeared surprisingly comfortable standing in the prisoners box, his eyes quickly darting around the room, but never at Sharlene Bosma who sat just a few feet away shaking, with tears running down her face.

Sharlene Bosma and family left court shortly after the hearing in which Millard and Smich were remanded until a later appearance. For many members of the Bosma family, it was the first time that they have seen Dellen Millard and co-accused Marc Smich in person. 32-year old Tim Bosma went missing back on May 6th after leaving his Ancaster home to go on a test drive with 2 men in the truck he was trying to sell. Dellen Millard was later arrested and charged with the murder after police found Bosmas remains at Millards farm in Ayr. Several days later, 26-year old Marc Smich was arrested and also charged in the killing. Recently, police have returned to the farm in relation to the dissapearence of 23-year old Laura Babcock in July of 2012, and they are also investigating the death of Wayne Millard, Dellens father in November of 2012. They are now calling this a multi-jurisdictional investigation.

Millard and Smich will next appear by video link on October 31st. The actual trial is not expected to begin until the spring of 2014.

Sharlene appeared before the hearing as if she had the weight of the world upon her shoulders. When they appeared, she started shaking. She was consoled by her family and tears were running down her face even after the hearing had ended and it was only a few moments and she was standing just feet away from Dellen Millard.

I spoke to Peter Lowe, the spokesperson for the family. He said that unless something were to change in the hearing, they were not planning to speak. That time will come later at the trial.
