A portion of the Lincoln Alexander Parkway was closed for most of the day after a major two car crash this morning.

The west bound lanes of the highway re-opened around 5pm after being close for about 7 hours, since the crash happened around 11 this morning. It involved 5 people including two children in car seats.

Police say a Nissan Sentra was driving on the Golf Links onramp this morning, when it hit a curb and bounced into oncoming traffic.

The 48-year old woman driving had to be cut out of her car, and was taken to Hamilton General Hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the other car and his wife were both taken to the hospital but only suffered minor injuries.

Their two children were taken to McMaster Children’s Hospital as a precaution.

While police were on scene, westbound traffic on the Linc was forced off at Mohawk Road.

Police do not believe alcohol was a factor.
