Randle Reef project moves forward

A significant milestone has been reached in Hamilton’s Randle Reef re-mediation project.

All legal agreements to fund and implement the project have been completed and signed. The $139 million clean-up project will protect water quality and improve fish habitat in the Hamilton Harbour. Around 675,000 cubic metres of sediment contaminated with coal tar will be removed during the project. This will make it safer for people to consume fish caught in the harbour.

Mayor Bob Bratina says he’s excited to move forward and improve Hamilton’s waterfront.
