Family escapes Flamborough fire

A family of three escaped a raging fire that destroyed their rural home in Flamborough early Thursday morning.

The home was located on Concession Road 8 East near Centre Road. About 40 firefighters battled large flames that lept above treetops, after the fire erupted at about 3am. A father and two boys, ages 10 and 12 managed to get out of the house unharmed and called 911. The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called to determine the cause of the fire. Damage to the 2 storey home is estimated at $450,000.
