Toronto police still searching Millard farm

Now to Ayr where Toronto Police investigators returned to Dellen Millard’s family farm Tuesday looking for more evidence in last year’s disappearance of Laura Babcock. Beyond the police officers and media, there was one other observer; Laura Babcock’s Uncle. And he told CHCH News, he had a bad feeling about Millard.

You can see behind me that Toronto police have pretty much wrapped up for the day. There is one forensics officer operating a GPS device. They’ve planted these white globes all around the barn and I’m told these are some kind of GPS trackers.

Toronto had a lot of help from Waterloo Regional Police tatical officers. They had a forensics truck as well as the Toronto forensics truck. And those tatical officers came armed with rakes and pitch forks and other farm implements. And they spent much of the day pitching hay out of the barn and dragging tarps of it out to the back where they wnet through the evidence.

They were inside that barn for most of the day, taking pictures, taking evidence out of the barn and into the forensic trucks.

Now we know that Hamilton police found Tim Bosma’s remains here back in May. They also found a livestock incinerator here on this property. This is a Toronto police investigation and Toronto police tell us that they are investigating the disappearance of Laura Babcock. The 23-year old Toronto woman went missing around June of last year, about the same time that Millard purhased his livestock incinerator.

Also on scene today was Laura Babcock’s Unclle, Thomas Ryan. The last time he spoke with her was just a few weeks before she went missing. It was about his wedding and she was talking about bringing a guest and Ryan thinks the guest was going to be Dellen Millard.

Ryan: “The last time I spoke to Laura was two weeks prior to her disappearance and it was in regards to her bringing a gentleman to my wife’s, my wedding, and my wife and I both think that it was Dellen (Millard) she was talking about, just I believe referring to him as a pilot, photographer and wealthy, and what not so we didn’t want her to come with a brand new boyfriend to the wedding, just, it didn’t seem right to me. That’s it, that’s all I got.”

Q: “Did she seem excited about him?”

Ryan: “I can’t say, it was a while back now that we spoke and really, I was worried about not causing any scene at my wedding and new boyfriends and it was a small intimate wedding so we just didn’t want to have any extra people if we didn’t need to.”

Q: “And you had the impression that it was a bad lot that she was hanging out with?”

Ryan: “Yes, yes, we thought it was probably a bit of a troublemaker and I didn’t want any trouble at the wedding of course.”

An officer on the scene told me that they would definitely be back tomorrow (Wednesday) but that they hadn’t found anything yet.
