Algae blooms in Lake Erie
It looks like we’re in for a hot long weekend. And if you’re thinking about heading to the beach on Lake Erie, you may want to watch your step.
Certain parts of the shoreline are covered with algae. Waverly Beach in Fort Erie has been a problem this summer. It’s being blamed on the warm weather and heavy rainfall. But local officials can’t clean it up until they get the green light from the Ministry of Natural Resources. Waverly Beach is a breeding ground for the Fowler Toad.
