New Burlington sculpture made with residents’ help

Canadian artist Peter Powning unveiled his latest work at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre today.

Community members contributed their personal belongings to the piece, and gathered today to celebrate the installation they helped create.

Some of the more than 200 items people from across Burlington contributed to the piece include musical instruments, paint brushes and personal jewellery.
The “Spiral Stela” is made of stainless steel, with a bronze spiral made from imprints of those cherished items.
