Charges laid in Emerald Lodge murder

One man in a Hamilton group home is dead , and another has been charged with murder.

Police were called to an assisted living home on Emerald Street South for a fight more than a week ago. 44-year old Daniel Demerino was semi-conscious and died in hospital on Wednesday.

Another resident, John Bark, has been charged with second degree murder. The 33-year old has been remanded in custody after a brief court appearance. The owners of Emerald Lodge are now reviewing their procedures.
