SIU clears officer

The province’s Special Investigation’s Unit has cleared four Toronto police officers involved in another deadly shooting.

Thursday afternoon the SIU announced it’s cleared the officers in the shooting death of 23-year old Zoltan Hyacinth back in March. At the time, police had followed Hyacinth to a Burger King drive thru where they boxed him in.

Hyacinth was a robbery and drug trafficking suspect who was carrying a gun. There was struggle at the car and Hyacinth was shot in the head with his own weapon. The SIU determined Hyacinth was aiming his gun at the officers when he fired ultimately causing his own death.
