“Boler” owners camp in Wainfleet

A hundred nostalgic campers gathered at Long Beach Conservation Area this past weekend to share something they have in common.

Some call them “eggs” or “bees,” but they are best known as “Bolers.” The little 70s-era camping trailers still have many enthusiasts.

Bolers were built in the Northeastern Ontario town of Earlton, until they were discontinued in the early 80’s. 13 years ago, several owners of the vintage Bolers met online to share their passion, and they decided to have a camp out.

The tradition continues annually at the conservation area in Wainfleet. Owners say the trailers are lightweight, about a thousand pounds, and easy to pull with a small car. They also say camping trips are just like they were in the old days.
