Trudeau swings through southern Ontario

Federal Liberal leader Justin Trudeau is making a campaign-like swing through the Golden Horseshoe today.

This morning he was in Oakville, touring a training institute. Trudeau took questions from workers and reporters, who challenged him over the controversy surrounding his speaking fees.

“I have already released all the correspondence between my office and the ethics commissioner around the ruling that she made when she looked in to all my speaking engagements, and I have disclosed, I have raised the bar in terms of transparency, in terms of accountability, far beyond what any politician is required to do.”

“I’m proud of that and I have been consistently open and transparent about that. I am following and have followed all the rules, laws and code of ethics applied to a parliamentarian, but I am happy to say I will go above and beyond and pay back any money to any people who feel I wasn’t helpful to their charity.”

The Liberal leader will head to Dundas next where he’ll meet with local business owners.

Kate Carnegie is following Trudeau’s visit, and will have a full report on the Evening News at 6.
