Donors reject location of memorial skate park

The race is on to find a new location for a skate park in memory of Pelham teen Isaac Riehl.

He was riding his longboard with a friend on Foss R2012-1023-IsaacRiehload last year, when he was hit by an oncoming car.

Pelham town council unanimously endorsed the idea of building it in Fonthill’s Harold Black Park – Riehl’s favourite. But council has just received a letter from the Branscombe family, which donated the land over 30 years ago.

There are legal provisions that prohibit the building of a skate park – provisions that only recently became public. Town council will now re-evaluate other potential sites.
